Confined Space Training
Confined space training is for all staff who have a requirement to work within confined spaces.
Who Should Attend?
All staff who are required to work in confined spaces.
Learning Objectives
Low-Risk Confined Spaces:
- Preparation to work safely in low risk confined spaces.
- Safely enter and exit confined spaces.
- Safely use equipment and tools in accordance with guidelines.
- Work safely and follow appropriate procedures.
- Deal with emergency situations.
- Understand appropriate behaviours while working in low risk confined spaces.
Medium-Risk Confined Spaces:
- Preparation to work safely in medium risk confined spaces.
- Safely enter and exit confined spaces.
- Safely use equipment and tools in accordance with guidelines.
- Work safely and follow appropriate procedures.
- Deal with emergency situations.
- Understand appropriate behaviours while working in medium risk confined spaces.
High-Risk Confined Spaces:
- Understand the dangers associated with high risk confined spaces.
- Understand the current legislation surrounding confined spaces.
- Gain knowledge of appropriate permits.
- Conduct risk assessments for confined spaces.
- Understand different atmospheres and the risks involved.
- Understand the use of gas detection equipment.
- Be able to use PPE (ropes, harnesses…).
- Use full breathing apparatus.
- Understand communication methods.
- Identify and use the equipment which is required for resuscitation.
- Gain an understanding of vertical entry using tripods and winches.
- Understand lock out and tag out procedures.
